Alan D. Welding is a retired educator with over 30 years of classroom experience in English, Communications, and Digital Media at the secondary level. As a former instructor at Chartiers Valley High School and a longtime contributor to the University of Pittsburgh’s College in High School program, Alan has guided generations of students through critical thinking, storytelling, and emerging technologies.
Today, Alan combines his deep educational expertise with a passion for innovation through AWelding Education—a platform dedicated to helping teachers integrate artificial intelligence into their classrooms in meaningful, ethical, and student-centered ways.
Alan believes AI isn't here to replace educators—it's here to empower them. Through professional development workshops, hands-on training, and thoughtful resources aligned with ISTE and AI4K12 standards, he helps educators confidently explore how AI can support learning and spark curiosity in the 21st-century classroom.
When he’s not developing educational resources, Alan serves as a concert photographer for PPG Paints Arena, continuing to blend creativity, technology, and storytelling in everything he does.
